Commentary: Snow 2007: "A necessarily brief account of the CSM which manages to summarize Ribera (Sage finds 'tempting' the positing of Islamic musical sources) and Anglés (whose transcriptions are preferable if not fully definitive). The claim is made (p. 728) that all the CSM have a refrain; this is not quite accurate as both prologue poems and nos. 1, 400, 401, 403, 414, 420, and 421 lack refrains. Curiously, the bibliography overlooks several studies on this music."
