Setting: unspecified Protagonist(s): a Christian and two Jews

A Christian said his prayers, lying prostrate outside a church and asking the Virgin to protect him from harm.

One day, while he was lying there, a large dog came up and disturbed him.

When he picked up a stone to strike the dog, he noticed two Jews mocking him and laughing at what the dog had done.

The Christian prayed for the Virgin to avenge him.

He threw the stone at the dog, and at that same instant, he watched as the portico collapsed on the Jews, crushing them completely.

Everyone who saw this praised the Virgin.
