Husband deserts wife for mistress. Wife complains to image of Virgin, who answers in a vision that she can do nothing as mistress salutes her devoutly. Wife meets mistress in church and upbraids her, accusing her of enchanting the Virgin. When mistress hears vision she is converted and spends remainder of life in a cell built near the church (247) |
