Snow 2007: "Affirms that Alfonso spent time in 1232 in Allariz (in Galicia) with his parent and three brothers and his familiarity with Galician is confirmed by his facility in using it in his poetry. Alfonso married in 1244 and, the author states, spent a time in Allariz with his wife, Violante, between 1244 and 1252 (at which time he becomes king). The idea is that there, in Galicia, the CSM were nurtured, and Allariz is ‘o berce das Cantigas.’ This is all rather speculative." |
