Snow 2007: "S. provides a useful repertory of references from the CSM, each of which — in its own way — either reflects awareness of other poems in the collection or to the collection as a whole, plus others which discuss the difficulties inherent in the Cantigas project. What emerges is a clearer picture of an organically-arranged sequence of poems which reveal an imbedded narrative (Alfonso's own) insinuated into the Marian anthology."
