Snow 2007: "The article is really about a group concept of authorship: the poets at court. T. stresses the community of effort that poets, artists, and musicians expended in the creation of the CSM (the common bond) under the enlightened leadership of a single patron (Alfonso X). Included is an overview of the musical diversity in the thirteenth-century. While the emphasis on a 'taller', or workshop, atmosphere is certainly justified, one issue is skirted: Alfonso's multiple roles as active participant in the work of which he was the patron." |
