"In this anthology of a popular cast, the introduction affirms with no apology that a) the immense majority of modern critics attribute nearly all the CSM to Alfonso (which is not true, and b) that Alfonso carried with him the Florence Codex when he had his interview with the Pope in 1275 (no souce is cited for this original claim). Follows Mettmann. Includes Prologue B and 49 other of the CSM, a generous sampling. Notes are lexical in nature, by and large, to help with items that are un-Spanish." |
