Of note are the sensible overview of Alfonso's poetic court (pp. 22-9), some sane comments on the profane poetry (pp. 169-72), and useful notes on a few aspects of rhyme and versification, especially pertaining to cantiga 10 (pp. 189-203). Américo Castro's Arabic tinged reading of the CSM (1948) is given very short shrift on pp. 14-18." |
