Notes from Snow 1977, no. 220: "A monumental study. The working text is a richly detailed examination of clothing - secular and ecclesiastical, male and female attire, the dress of Moor and Jew - and of architectural and artistic forms. These cover civilian and military structures, lay and religious edifices, painting and sculpture, inscriptions, glassware, ceramics and other interior and exterior decoration, all enhanced by the author's sketches. For the plates, MS T.j.1 was used. A door is opened onto the world of the thirteenth century. A solid introd. and good indices give further breadth to this study. For some further comments, see Sánchez Cantón, 1949." |
