Snow 1977, no. 6: "V. knows of the Toledo MS through Ortiz de Zúñiga's work (1677). The CSM were meant to be sung in church. Much verse in Castilian is attributed to Alfonso, and strophes of the Alexandre and the Querellas are cited. Mention is made of the use of 4, 5, 6, 8, 12, 13, and 14 syllable lines in the CSM. Most of the information is sketchy and second hand." |
