Snow 1977, no. 95: "The poem, in Galician, written in an earlier thirteenth century hand and accompanied by a marginal note attributing it to "mi señor D. Fernando, rey de Castilla", is transcribed and edited by the authors. The rhyme scheme, the 9 line stanza, the distinctiveness of its form in contrast to any of Alfonso's forty one loores (to which genre of lyric this poem belongs), all seem to indicate that Alfonso may have had a model for his Marian songs from within his family. Interesting though this may seem, more work will have to be done on this text before any definitive conclusion can be reached." |
