Snow 2007: "The relevant pages are 4-11 (a rapid overview of the progress in musical circles since ca 1850 with regard to the CSM, now seriously out-of-date) and 24-29 (in which Riquier's possible contributions to Alfonso's musical court are discussed). Two ideas that are presented here are that the CSM music is well-defined modal notation and that there is likely no French melodic contribution to the CSM that can be traced to Riquier. Poetic influences are not taken up." |
