Snow 1977, no. 167: "V. accepts too readily the theories of Ribera [1922] but this is otherwise a fairly good and compact general introduction to Alfonso's poetry. It concentrates on a wider classification of the narrative poems, based on, but categorizing more finely, the minimal classification of Valmar in 1889. He starts a trend in classification studies for the CSM. His recognition of the lyrical nature of much of Alfonsine narrative verse deserves wider acceptance and further scholarly study." |
