Snow 1977, no. 172: "An account of Alfonso's love for Doña Mayor de Guillén and the birth of their daughter Brites (Beatriz), with gruesome accounts of later depositions concerning e.g. Doña Mayor's coffin. The only connection with Alfonso's poetry seems to be the belief that Mayor's beauty inspired the emotion of the refrain of CSM 10. Quite to the contrary, it is the Doña Mayor type that Alfonso explicitly rejects in cantiga 10. Article of no real value to anyone." |
