Snow 1977, no. 205: "By bringing to bear over one hundred musical examples on the question of Arabic influence on Spanish music, S. shows that any such claims are truly tenuous. There are, however, some common features of the two owing to eastern origins of both. Ribera (1922) is shown not to have the musicological background for such an ambitious project as he attempted and to have provided false (and even atypically Arabic) transcriptions of the CSM. Bibliography and maps are included in this very acute study." |
