Snow 1977, no. 229: "The first edition is in Castilian, subsequent ones in Galician. The biographical sketch on Alfonso is too brief to be of major value (pp. 379, 1st ed.; pp. 47-9, 3rd ed.), but the entire vol. gives some definition to what Alfonso's poetic court must have been like. The Academy ed. (1889) of the CSM is still referred to even in 1975, over a full decade after the entire series of Mettmann vols (the best edition) was readily available. One black and white plate (facing p. 33, in 3rd ed.) is provided." |
