Snow 1977: "An exposition, through stylistic analysis, of the theory that Alfonso may well have been the sole author of the CSM. The main point V. makes is that a uniformity obtains throughout in terms of versification, rhyme, format, introductory formulas, and certain images. The ideas are interesting but, given the brevity of the study, far from conclusive. One alternative is that Alfonso exercised a strong editorial control over the compositions that were to be ultimately included. Still, this is a vital problem we must now face in further consideration of the art of the CSM and V. has started us off on the right foot. " |
