Snow 1977: "The volume is interesting throughout because of the generous use of black and white plates of the miniatures of the CSM. In the brief texts both civil and religious architecture are adequately commented upon: more eloquent, however, is the juxtaposition of miniatures with actual photographs to illustrate points the text is making. C.R. provides another sober reflection on Alfonsine illumination as a reliable presentation of the thirteenth-century world." |
