Notes from Snow 1977rn"Describes the six miniatures illustrating Alfonso's version of the Theophilus legend (CSM 3) and explores the correlation of these visual guides to the account given in the poem. K. explains the pictorial details not specifically mentioned in the text as having derived, perhaps, from familiar accounts of greater length. This study is one part of a project of Keller's which promises further investigation of the relationship of the poetic texts to their pictorial realization. Further steps will be necessary to determine which of the available accounts might have been utilized as a basis for the miniatures." |
