Notes from Snow 1977, no. 70: "The author mentions twelve of the CSM as taking place at the Portuguese sanctuary of Terena, now non-existent (he omits a thirteenth, cantiga 223). He describes the geographical setting and the cult practised there, and concludes that Alfonso knew the area personally and that Marian worship there had overtones of a pre existing pagan goddess cult." |
