Snow 1977, no. 123: " A contribution to the future accounting of the sources of the CSM. The article recounts the known Italian legends, poems, and artworks that celebrate the miraculous ninth century event at Rome. Alfonso's cantiga 309 is thought to be a personal reworking of a confused version (the tale is not included in miracle collections generally circulated), which somehow retains the main points while sacrificing some of the more poetic evocations of the likely original." |
