Snow 2007: "CSM 169, which records an event of 1243, was probably written down ca. 1279: the tone is personal, (auto)biographical. It was translated into Spanish (1944) by Andrés Sobejano but not published until 1973; this in turn inspired Gerardo Diego's much freer version of 1948. All three of these poems — closely interrelated, are published here with an intelligent literary assessment." |
