Snow 2007rn"The cantigas discussed are 375 and 377 (the 357 of the title is incorrect), two narratives that take up the case of artists in Alfonso's service: Bonamic and Pero Lourenço, respectively. Most of the data here is culled from the historical studies of J. Torres Fontes but carefully sifted and re-presented by H. S. He adds to the Bonamic study a small essay on the artist's possible genealogical background (pp. 152-58), and amplifies the data in the Pero Lourenço study by attenpting to associate this artist with a ‘Pero, pintor de imagenes’ who appears on the rolls of Murcia. The data assembled is useful, the digressions always interesting; however, this study should have been edited for tightness." |
