Notes from Snow 1977, no. 59: "These few pages pull together much of what was known of Alfonso's poetic court and the personal poetic efforts of the king. Both are tied to his early experiences with the Galician idiom, to which Alfonso wedded some troubadour adornments (especially in the area of metrical combinations) as he fashioned his CSM. Especially praised are cantiga 421 (Mettmann 406), the mayas, the alba (cantiga 340), and the loor akin to the Salve regina (cantiga 40)." |
