Setting: | Jerez | Protagonist(s): | the citizens of Jerez and some Franciscans |
There was a drought in Jerez and the people determined to flee from the town. A Franciscan assembled the people and preached a sermon, advising them to repent of their sins. He said that if they did this they would have rain before three days had elapsed. He told them to imitate him, and he struck the ground with his hands and prayed to the Virgin. The people began to moan and the women wept and wailed. The clouds opened and a heavy rain began to fall. The people were overjoyed. |
