For the purposes of the new edition, every poem has been assigned a unique short title. The original short titles, taken eclectically from a number of sources, are retained as alternative short titles.

A young woman loved the Virgin with all her heart. She was so devoted to Mary that she rejected worldly affairs and she fasted so strictly that she fell ill. She lay in bed for a month without eating or drinking. It anyone mentioned the Virgin’s name, she raised her hand to her heart. The young woman died, and her parents, thinking that she had been poisoned, had an autopsy performed. They found an image of the Virgin inside her heart. All the people praised Holy Mary. |
