Setting: Chartres Protagonist(s): a goldsmith

A goldsmith once made a reliquary for the cathedral of “Lyon” [probably Laon.

Later, he was struck blind.

The Dean, who took the reliquary on a fund-raising tour, visited Chartres.

At Chartres, the reliquary was described to the blind goldsmith who identified it as his workmanship.

He approached the reliquary, wept, and asked the Virgin to restore his sight.

His sight was not only restored, but also improved.
