The Cantigas de Santa Maria Database was created in 2005 as the main deliverable of the the project Collection, Composition and Compilation in the Cantigas de Santa Maria funded by the Leverhulme Trust, and housed in the Instituto Camões Portuguese Centre. The database was designed by Stephen Parkinson (PI) and Deirdre Jackson (RA), and programmed by Cyan Collier. The summaries of text and image in the central Poems table and the contents of the Miracles and Poncelet tables were devised by Deirdre Jackson, who continued her work in 2005-2006 as MHRA Research Associate.

The Bibliography table was initially populated by Alison Campbell and Kathleen Jeffs, with funding from the British Academy, and using materials kindly supplied by Prof. Joseph Snow.

The Galician versions of explanatory texts were produced by Dr Déborah González (Visiting Research Fellow 2013-2015).

A subsidiary site will soon be established in the Sustainable Digital Scholarship repository, to provide longterm accesibility to edited texts and database materials.
