For the purposes of the new edition, every poem has been assigned a unique short title. The original short titles, taken eclectically from a number of sources, are retained as alternative short titles.

A little girl in Elche fell into a ditch and died. Her father, weeping and praying, placed her in front of the altar of the Virgin. Then he had a requiem mass said and the priest recited the epistle of the dead written by Judas Maccabaeus. Her mother wept continuously. When the priest consecrated the host, the girl suddenly rose up. She praised the Virgin for the miracle. |
