Setting: San Miguel de Tomba [Mont St Michel] Protagonist(s): This miracle lacks human agents

One night, lighting struck the monastery of Mont St Michel, which sits on the crest of a rock.

Everything in the church was destroyed, but the fire did not burn the statue of the Virgin.

Not even smoke or heat touched the statue, and the veil it was wearing was not scorched.

In a similar manner, the Virgin protected with her garment “the Hebrew in the furnace” / “come o ebreo guardou no forno con ssa vestidura.”

All of the people were amazed that the veil was intact and the paint on the statue was not damaged.

Rather, the statue seemed to have been bathed in rose water and it emitted that fragrance.
