Setting: Church of Luzerna, Constantinople Protagonist(s): the citizens of Constantinople

In the Church of Luzerna in Constantinople, there is an immeasurably beautiful image of the Virgin.

All year, a cloth hangs in front of it to protect it from dust and harm.

Every Friday, however, the cloth slowly rises and people come to venerate the image.

People say that an angel comes from heaven to raise the veil and suspend it in the air.

All day and night, on Saturday, people go there on pilgrimage and priests assemble to sing the hours. When they see the image uncovered, they make great offerings there and praise the peerless Virgin.

When Saturday has ended, the angel lowers the cloth.
