Summary of narrative | |||
Setting: | Elche | Protagonist(s): | the people of Elche |
The people of Elche attended mass on the day of Pentecost. As they were listening to the service, they noticed that the Paschal candle had melted down on one side. They were unhappy to see the candle ruined. As the priest was praying, a swarm of white bees entered the church through a hole in the wall. The bees began to repair the candle with the melted wax. When the people saw this, they realised that it was a miracle and praised the Virgin. They left the swarm alone, and the bees settled there and made a lot of honey. |
