Commentary: Reviews the metrical structure of complex cantigas, in the light of the relationship between metrical and musical structures. In 276, 32, 317 and 407 the vuelta has two concurrent structures, one matching the rhyme scheme of the strophe and the other matching the line lengths of the refrain. In 162 there are two different patterns of repetition, arising from defective application of the model set by the initial strophes. 72 combines both the above complications, and thus poses great editorial problems. http://users.ox.ac.uk/~mmlcsm/verba.pdf
