A merchant’s wife realised that he had taken a mistress. She prayed to the Virgin to cause her rival misfortune. The Virgin appeared to her in a vision. She told her that she would not grant her request because the mistress prayed faithfully to her, bowing a hundred times and touching her face to the ground. The woman woke up and went out. In the street, she encountered her rival. The mistress told her that she had been tempted by the devil and begged her forgiveness. The two women were reconciled, although they had once despised one another. |
