A priest of Pavia named Hieronymus (Geronimo) was virtuous and greatly devoted to the Virgin. The bishop of Pavia died. The Virgin appeared to a holy man and instructed him to go to the cathedral chapter and tell them to elect Geronimo as bishop. The holy man did what the Virgin had instructed. The members of the cathedral chapter unanimously agreed to elect Hieronymus. The Virgin always honours and elevates those faithful to her. |
