A poor old woman, devoted to the Virgin, bought a sheep. She entrusted it to a shepherd for safekeeping. At shearing time she went to collect the wool, but the shepherd, who had hidden the sheep, told her that a wolf had eaten it. The woman realised he was lying and asked the Virgin to restore her sheep. The sheep cried out: “Here I am.” The woman sheared it and took the fleece to Rocamadour. |
