Setting: On the way to Britain Protagonist(s): various men and an abbot travelling by ship

Some men were travelling to Britain on a ship.

The vessel was struck by a storm.

They began to call on various saints to save them.

A holy abbot, on board the ship, advised them to call instead on the Virgin.

They did so, and saw a bright light glowing at the top of the mast.

When the light appeared, the wind was stilled and the ship soon arrived at port.
