Notes from Snow 1977, no. 82: "A lengthy disquisition on those cantigas containing alexandrines, whether alone or in combination with other meters. Most are anapestic and a few are iambic; other types are also represented. H. gives examples of all types, accompanied by a schema of the basic metrical rhythm, one stanza from the selected text, and the musical rhythm as found in and interpreted from MS J.b.2. The interpretation, too often, is only approximate and diminishes the utility of the comparisons made. Patterns are presented for the following cantigas: 71, 270, 47, 149, 169, 241, 380, 90, 210, 115, 220, 50, 182, 320, 260, 60, 401, 368, 296, 251, 148, 218, 261, 284, 315, 372, FM I (411), FM 9 (419), FM 10 (420), 246, 293, 379, and 264. Rhythmic values of all the substitutions for the anapest are given as well." |
