Summary of narrative |
Setting: |
Segovia |
Protagonist(s): |
a Jewish woman |
In Segovia, a Jewish woman committed a crime and was arrested. She was taken to a high cliff and was about to be thrown over. She called on the Virgin, promising to become a Christian if Mary would preserve her. The Jews pushed her over the cliff, but the Virgin came to her aid. The woman was not dashed on the rocks, but fell, unharmed, at the foot of a fig tree. She jumped up and began to praise the Virgin. Then she went to the church and saw a great crowd of people whom she told her story. She was baptised straightaway.
