A priest was very lustful, but was devoted to the Virgin. One night, when he was going off to sin, he got into a boat to cross the Seine. The boat overturned and he was drowned. The devil came to carry away his soul and torture it in the fire. But the Virgin heard the priest’s cry and answered him, causing the devil to flee.
