Setting: Chartres Protagonist(s): a priest

A novice priest of Chartres was a gambler and a thief.

Whenever he saw an image of the Virgin he always prayed to it.

He died unconfessed.

He was not buried within the churchyard.

The Virgin appeared to a priest and chided him, telling him to bury the novice in hallowed ground.

The priests discovered that the novice had a flower like a lily growing out of his mouth.
